Representative Cases for Environmental Law and Related Litigation and Counseling

The firm represents local and regional clients in litigation matters and administrative proceedings involving environmental damage and remediation claims. Our clients include municipalities, railroads, commercial property owners and real estate developers seeking to comply with local, state and federal regulations applicable to solid waste, clean water, toxic substances and other environmental issues. We consult with municipalities, major developers and real estate owners at the pre-construction stage to help them address federal, state and local requirements regarding environmental conditions and toxic substances. We also provide insurance coverage advice on environmental claims and when such claims are not able to be resolved, handle environmental insurance coverage litigation.

For example, we currently are representing a Westchester County municipality in a multi-party Clean Water Act case pending in the federal district court for the Southern District of New York. We represented a municipality in connection with its obligation to meet landfill closure requirements pursuant to a NYDEC Order on Consent. We also have defended non-governmental entities who have been sued for allegedly violating state and local environmental regulations and ordinances.
